The Anchant Lizzardz are a entertaining musical group composed of part time recreational musicians who, by providence and the forethought of their respective parents, are not dependent upon their musical avocation to make a living. But, make no mistake about it....these guys are an awesome, well-equipped, entertaining group of characters capable of turning even the most humdrum gathering into a rousing hoedown. Depending on the mood of a particular song, the band consists of 3-4 guitar players, 1-2 banjo players, keyboards, a fiddler, a harmonica, a drummer, a conga player, and even an occasional trombone and/or saxaphone solo. Many of the Lizzardz played in bands in their early teens and twenties and just as playing in their neighborhood garage bands and even some larger, more ambitious, musical endeavors provided thrills for these guys in the 70's & 80's; the thrill of playing music - - or therapy - - as it is now referred to, is still with them in 2001.

The current lineup has been together for about five years. The band actually started out five years ago playing together in their living rooms. This evolved into neighborhood back yard parties in Larchmont, Lochhaven and West Ghent and then to charitable events around the Greater Norfolk metropolitan area. This in turn, led to bigger shows, better clubs, and larger venues. Though not ready to quit their day jobs, they have been billed at one event as "legends in their spare time". They have proven time and again, despite their advanced degrees, to be capable showmen and "all round good guys" who really enjoy sharing their musical gifts.

The Anchant Lizzardz have performed for shows, festivals, charity benefits, and parties, all over the state including: American Cancer Society's Relay for Life; Batterson's Pub in Norfolk; benefit shows at Bienville Grille, Norfolk; Cafe Bocce, Scottsville, VA; Norfolk's Boathouse Concert Hall for the CHKD Holly Festival; Camptown Races in Hanover County, VA; an appearance on Channel 3's "Live at 9"; the Chesapeake Bay Challenge party during Harborfest; Scottsville, Virginia's "4th of July Celebration"; Cogan's, Norfolk; Hampton Cup J-Boat Sailing Regatta; Larchmont R.A.T. Race; Mallory Country Club; Norfolk Festevents, "Greening of Ghent"; Norfolk SPCA's Dog Walk-a-Thon; Ocean View Knights of Columbus St Patrick's Day Celebration; O'Leary's, Virginia Beach; Richmond Convention Center; Stockley Gardens Arts Festival; and the Tidewater Boat Club.

This award winning band's music ranges, from country to bluegrass, blues to old timey, Latin to Irish, rock-n-roll to television theme songs, and comes from the variety of characters that make up the band. Currently, they are recording original songs, including their much-requested local hit "TROPHY WIFE", as part of a collection appropriately called "Midlife Crisis".
